July 30 2020,
You're shopping for a capable, versatile SUV that offers good value for your money? Since its North American debut in 2012, the Mazda CX-5 offers you all this and much more! And the many awards it has won since its launch prove not only that it outperforms the competition on many levels, but also that it's popular with buyers. Spinelli, your Mazda dealer in Lachine near downtown Montreal, tells you more about the 2020 CX-5 and its advantages over the competition, including the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe.
CX-5 Exterior Design
One thing is certain: the dynamic and modern look of the 2020 Mazda CX-5 will turn many heads along the way! Depending on the version chosen, it will be equipped with 17 to 19 inch tires and feature a bold front end with Mazda's signature grille and eye-catching headlights, among other things. Four models are available (GX, GS, GT and Signature) and the CX-5's price range is between $27,950 and $41,900. That's less than the 2020 Santa Fe, the four trim levels of which have base prices ranging from $29,249 to $45,249.
Powerful engines for the CX-5
While the 2020 Santa Fe offers 2 engines ranging from 185 to 235 horsepower, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 has 3 different powertrains, namely a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine of 187 horsepower—some models are offered with cylinder deactivation, a feature not found in the Hyundai SUV—a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Turbo with an output of 227 or 250 horsepower depending on octane rating, and finally, a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder Diesel engine that generates 168 horsepower and allows the CX-5 to tow up to 1,588 kg (3,500 lb). Note that the Santa Fe offers no diesel engine. Finally, you'll get a front or all-wheel drive model, depending on the options you choose, as well as surprising highway fuel economy, with ratings that vary between 7.6 and 8.7 L/100 km, while these figures go from 8.0 to 9.2 L/100 km in the case of the Santa Fe, despite the fact that the latter offers less power.
A modern, well-thought-out interior
With room for up to 5 occupants, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 also has plenty of space for luggage, with a cargo volume ranging from 875 to 1,687 litres, with the rear seats folded down. What is more, no matter where you sit in the vehicle, you'll enjoy plenty of room.
The CX-5 is equipped with a wide range of features and technologies, depending on the version you choose. For example, you could find features like cloth or Nappa leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, a 6-way or 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a power moonroof and so much more.
Technology also plays a big part aboard the CX-5! Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, Mazda Connect system with 7 or 8-inch touchscreen display, a subscription to Sirius radio and Sirius Traffic Link, as well as a 10-speaker Bose audio system, depending on the version chosen.
Finally, safety takes pride of place on board the CX-5, with advanced technologies such as Traffic Sign Recognition (not available for the Santa Fe), a rearview camera, parking sensors, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart City Brake Support, a 360-degree View Monitor as well as Pedestrian Detection, to name but a few.
As you can see, the new 2020 Mazda CX-5 has a lot to offer you and features many advantages over the competition! With so many positive points, it's not surprising that the Car Guide gave it an overall score of 83%, compared to 72% for the 2020 Santa Fe!
