The upcoming Mazda CX-50: what to expect?
An all-new Mazda coupe – and rear-wheel drive to boot – will soon be making its grand entrance at Spinelli Mazda in Montreal, near Laval and the South Shore: say hello to the dazzling 2021 Mazda CX-50, the price range of which has yet to be announced!
The Mazda CX-50 is a competitor to the BMW X3, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLC!
Sharing the Mazda6 platform, this all-new model represents the manufacturer's first real foray into the premium vehicle segment. Indeed, it is aimed at competitors like the BMW X3, the Audi Q3 Sportback and the Mercedes-Benz GLC, no less!
Developed and manufactured in Japan, the 2021 CX-50 will be offered in Europe as well as on the North American market and will be positioned above the CX-5 in the Mazda product range. It's meant to be a coupe-like version of the popular SUV, but with an added touch of luxury to make it more “big league”. One thing's for sure, it should be a huge success as soon as it hits the roads in Canada!
The first information on the future Mazda CX-50 SUV
We don't yet know what will be under the hood of the Mazda CX-50; there’s talk of a 6-cylinder gas engine, coupled with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that could provide up to 400 horsepower, according to several sources. A plug-in hybrid version is being considered for the European market, but it's unclear at this time whether this model will be offered in North America. The CX-50 will also be offered with a capable all-wheel drive system.
In terms of on-board technology, no information has been released; however, we can expect features already present in current Mazda vehicles such as heated and power-adjustable seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as well as many state-of-the-art safety features.
